biography

Hello and welcome to Seven Stacked Stones! My name is Francyne. Here's a little bit about my journey and the inspiration that fueled this venture. I spent my career as a software engineer in Silicon Valley, working 10-13 hour days along with a lengthy commute while raising four vibrant children, leaving little time left for relaxation. I recently told a friend, "Throughout my life, I seem to have money or time but never both." When I was working, it was all-consuming and when I was not working, I was pinching pennies and fretting over finances.

But, like many families, my 3 sisters and I were always there to support one another. We shared articles on healthy living and tips on diet, exercise and our favorite products. We sought out little things that brought us great joy. We made a sport of finding the best deals and finding ways to save money on essentials, leaving us more time and money for travel or the occasional splurge. I started this blog, dedicated to health and happiness, as a way to share our favorite finds, our secrets, our joys, and our many adventures with friends, extended family, and beyond.

Significance of our website name: The practice of stacking stones has been observed in many cultures, including Native American, Buddhist and Peruvian. The historical significance of stone stacking ranges from spiritual to practical, as in marking a path. It also symbolizes patience, balance, strength, fragility, harmony and connection with the earth. (Note that modern stacking of stones is often prohibited or discouraged in national parks as it may upset the natural ecosystem.)
